Polish Wedding Bread

May 6, 2009

One of the biggest traditions in a Polish wedding is to present the bride and groom with bread and salt.  The wonderful people at our wedding venue made us a really cool wedding bread in honor of this.

Somewhere along the line, my mother convinced me that I had to keep the wedding bread.  Forever.  Somehow this made sense to me, as we packed it up to go to Krakow, and then aired it out in Paris.  I half-hoped that customs might discover it, or at least discover the bread and miss the glorious forest mushrooms my aunt had picked from the Polish forest and dried.

Now, here it is, still drying almost a month later, in our apartment in Queens.
